Planning: Back Home

Hi, I'm planning to ride from Berlin to Brisbane in the summer of 2007. I am looking for any input that ANYONE can give me regarding my trip. I don't really want to travel through india/Pakistan so need to find another route. I'll be travelling on a BMW F650 (German Reg) and an Australian Passport
Looking forward to any input

Mate.....ride Pakistan and India.....and Nepal and or Bangladesh. It isnt that hard and it really is fun....well most of the time it is!!!!!
And no problems on an Aussie passport.

Hi David & Cheryl, Homesick yet? Its been disgustingly hot & humid back here. I don't mean to hijack this thread, I think my question is relevent anyway.

Can you tell me if you got your India, Pakistan and Iran visas on-route or before leaving Australia? The Pakistan visa is only valid for 3 months from issue (not sure how long Iran visa is valid), so visa will expire for me between leaving Aus and arriving Pak. Only advice from Pak consulate in Aus is to apply for Business visa that is valid for 12 months, but it costs more and more complex application and longer approval time......

I hope to get these visas on-route, maybe Turkey as others have done previously. Just thought I would ask your experiences?

I doubt David & Cheryl are homesick yet - takes me about 9 months. Then I like to camp among some gums somewhere (parts of Greece, Africa, America) some damper, tea, and vegemite.
For my return I'm thinking application in London as I'm not seeing things in Europe this time around. Drop in for visa No1 then go to IOM TT and return to get visa No2 - do HU meeting - recycle for Visa 3 - tour where ever and wander back. Easier if you have two passports as you can apply for two at once.
--- As an alternative to Pak/India you could do the 'Stans and Russia.

Thanks Frank, yeh the homesick question was tongue-in-cheek comment. At one stage I had a vague idea that maybe Russia & Stans could be plan B if there was a problem with traditional silk-road route. But I hadn't done much reading about Russia/Stans so have been doing a bit of that lately - just in case plan B was needed due to bombs or birds (flu). But now I am wondering how i could fit them in too! Too many places not enough time & money....
