Pizza In Italy! **short notice**

Me and a mate were gonna do this whole trip across Scandinavia, Former Eastern Bloc and Spain but decided to get a little practise in first.

Anywhoo........ My mate just sold his car (...finally) and suggested we take next week off work and ride down to Italia for the "Perfect Pizza".

Anyone know anywhere good in Rome?

I appreciate there must be MILLIONS of pizzerias in Italy but did any stand out to you?

I can't help you with pizza in Rome, but I can help you with a brilliant retaurant in San Vale Liberale. Where the bloody hell is that did I hear you ask. Well it's on the southern edge of the Dolomites. Up a small valley just out of Pasagno. It's call "Motorcycle Restaurante" and they are motorcycle MAD. English is spoken, If you make it say hello to John the Aussie chef. Google Pompone and check out the web site. It's a family run affair. They even have their own race team. Go, you want be dissapointed.
Cheers, Graeme.

Pizza in Rome is "Baffetto", Via del Governo Vecchio 114, Tel. +39 06 686 1617. Start with a "bruschetta" and then enjoy their pizza. Lovely friendly and informal atmosphere in the very center of the city.

Before of that, I suggest a drink at Caffe' della Pace, Via Della Pace, 5, tel +39 06 6861216.

Both the places are close to Piazza Navona.

Try both, I bet you won't regret them, and let me know how was it.

Thanks

Cheers guys, Will definately try out the Motorcycle Restuarante.

3 days `till we leave - I :censored: hate waiting!!!

Nevermind - I have no doubt it will be worth it

If you struggle to find the place, and you will. Just ask anyone in Pasangno for Motoristorante in Valle San Liberale and they will point you in the right direction. You can pick up their address from the Pompone web site of course. I did it a number of times on a 1978 Moto Guzzi Mk 1 Le Mans. Now thats uncomfortable, but theres no better way to do the Alps I believe. Other suggestions would be to head onto the flat country towards Venice where you will find numerouse motorcycle discount shops or down to Noale to the Aprilia factory. Between Pasagno and Venice. There are numerous brilliant high passes to cross, but a particular stand out is the Stelvio in Italy. If you do it then you could run by Mandelo Del Lario on the western shores of lake Como and check out the Guzzi factory. The museum is open for one hour only each afternoon around 2 or 3 pm If my memory is correct ( and often it isn't ). Do be sure not to speed in Switzerland, which I'm sure you are already aware of. I wish I was back there, you'll have a great time. If in a rush for time I have managed to travel from the restaurant to Leeds in 24 hours. I was totally shagged at the end of it, but it gives you some idea I guess.
Cheers,
Graeme.

OOOOPS, the above message should of course read, "on the eastern shore of lake Como". I promise to do better next time.
Graeme.

So did you find that allusive pizza and did you make it to the Motoristorante at Valle San Liberale,
Cheers,
Graeme.

Errrrrrrrrrrrr Not exactly - We thought we'd stop into Boppard in The Rhine for the first night.

We parked in the hotels "secure parking" where the bikes were swiped in the night!!!:censored:

So we've spent the last week messing around in Rudesheim, Boppard, Koln - If you're in that area check out the "Hotel l'Europe" (White painted hotel in Boppard) AWESOME breakfast - Very good rates.

We're gonna try it all again when the insurance pays out!!

Oh bugger!! I hope you don't loose faith. Give it another shot when you get sorted.

Cheers, Graeme.
