Getting across Spain...On a limited budget

Hi People

I need some advice on getting across Spain please, the boat docks in Bilbao on Friday 07 Nov at 08:00 in the morning. I’m on my way down to Morocco so I’m looking to clear Spain as quick as possible.

I’ve got a limited budget and I’m wondering which is the best way down ? Will it cost less if I take the west coast through Portugal? Or the Mediterranean side

Any cost cutting tips would be useful for this leg of the trip, I’ve heard that you can sleep and eat for free if you work at one of the sustainable farming projects in Portugal? I like the sound of that, I’m going to research this but if anybody got any info on that I’d be interested.

Regards
Shaun

you can get down in a long day, to Algeciras if that's where you're headed (straight down the middle). Stop for lunch (if you really have to) at a super market, and also pick up your bread and meat/cheese for later in the evening.

that's the cheapest route I've found. If you ride a little slower you'll use less fuel, though it'll take you +12 hours riding. Depends what you're riding though.

Have you looked into having your bike shipped and then getting a cheap flight to Malaga? It may not fit in with your current plans, but if you compare the cost of ferry, food, accommodation, fuel and time, you may find shipping a cheaper alternative, plus you get more time in Morocco.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
