Need a garage for motorbike in Bern

I’m working in Switzerland in city of Bern on a contract until mid-summer.
I’m planning to bring my bike here in end of April, and I'm starting to look for a garage
My apartment is in the middle of Bern “Innere stadt” and it does not have a parking hall or backyard where to keep the bike.

My question is:
Does anyone know what is the best option for me to find a good parking in that area? I wish it would not be far away from where I live, so I can walk there.

Okay, I can leave it on the street because its free in front of the apartment. But I prefer to have it inside or out of sight.

My plan is to ask around a bit, starting from here and from bikers I meet in Bern.
Or maybe a nice hotel manager can fix something not too expensive.

But Let’s start from this forum :detective:

Juuso:

If your desire to keep the moto inside or out of sight is because of security concerns (worries that someone might steal it, or damage it), you can dismiss those concerns entirely. Switzerland is an extraordinarily safe country so far as any form of crime (especially property crime) is concerned.

I lived in Zurich for many years, and used to ride my bicycle to the airport and leave it in the bike rack for 2 weeks at a time when I travelled back to Canada. I didn't bother locking it up. It was always there when I returned.

Unless your moto is something very unusual that would appeal to a thief (e.g. a brand new VFR or similar), I think you can leave it out on the street without any concern.

Once you arrive in CH and get settled in, you might be able to find another rider in your apartment building, or in an adjacent apartment building, who is willing to split the cost of renting an enclosed parking space with you. Or, as you pointed out, a hotel garage.

bike parking in Berne

Hello Juuso, welcome to the HUBB,

I will be also spending this summer in Berne and I will leave my bike outside on the street very near the center (Weissenbühl). I agree with what Michael (PanEuropean) says, but two years ago some drunken kids damaged my bike at night and the police was there when I left the house early in the morning. Try to lock it away if you can ....

If you fancy meeting for a beer, I will arrive first week of May. Just send me a pm or an email.

THX!

I been in Bern already eight weeks, and I agree it’s safe here. Only concern is drunk people who might be interested in trying a “cold ride” on the bike.
I also found a parking next to the office what is locked in the night. During the weeks I won’t have time to drive. So this solution fits me well. And its free :-D

Mika… Of cause we will have a grosse (or few) in Bern when you are here. I will fly back to Finland this week to pick up my bike. And back in Bern fifth of may

CU here then!

Mika!

Are you driving your bike to Bern?
I will be somewhere in Germany 2-3 May

Don't know where in Germany exactly. All depends on the weather
