Ghost,
You will be fine touring around on a big honda, we toured through western Europe on a very heavily loaded 800 BMW and had no trouble at all, just some days when you pass one of those little dirt tracks that head up into the hills and wonder where it goes will you ever need or want a smaller bike...
Give a thought to riding in Turkey also, easy to get to from Rhodes by ferry in the summer. We had some of our most memorable rides there, as the people and countryside are wonderful.
Cheers, Peter

Yes - Turkey is sounding more and more inviting as I read postings about it. Thinking about Egypt too.

Thanks!

Talking Bike storage in Crete

Hi Ghost or anyone else in Crete,

Are you still in Crete? We are in Crete now and are looking for safe storage for our Super Tenere and gear for 16 months, two winters, one summer, while we go home to earn more money to continue our RTW trip.

We are looking for a space in someones garage and are willing to pay for it.
If you know of anyone please let us know or if you are still here it would be great to catch up with you or any other Horizons bikers in Crete
Our Greek number till 7 Nov is 697 416 3848
or by email.

Cheers, Patrick and Belinda Peck

When I was the Passo del Stelvio, I saw at least three or four cruisers and that was squirt, hairpin, squirt, hairpin all the way up. And I have to defend Italy. Italy is biker country. Much better than anywhere else in northern Europe I've been to. People just let you past. And there's plenty of petrol stations, which seem to be a dying breed elsewhere. By far the best riding I've done has been in Italy. Austria was pretty good, and maybe a bit better for bigger bikes. Can't comment on anywhere else, other than to say that Greeks in general prefer dual sport style bikes. I've no idea what road conditions are like on Crete itself.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
