Spain for dummies...

Hi everyone:

We are planning a tripp to Spain and I just have in mind arriving in Madrid, run to a Motorcycle rental, and take a 4 days ride to cover some destinations.

At first I was thinking to go out from Madrid: Alcalá de Henares-Chinchón-Cuenca-Toledo-Caceres-Hervás and back to Madrid.

I have never been in Spain, I love ridding and this part of the tripp (in a Motorcycle) it´s a great detail from my wife because it´s our honeymoon.

Having said that, and knowing that Spain is a great place to ride, I have just a few questions.

1. Can whe do this rout in 4 days?
2. Do I need to rent a 400cc+ to ride in higways?
3. Is there a better rout southeast & west Madrid? Going Up north and to the southern cities (Cordoba, Sevilla, etc) will be on car
4. Any rentor sugestion???

Thanks on the help...

Go to Barcelona instead of Madrid...

At least then you can go to the Pyrenees and Andorra, nice rides with a bike as it is all mountain!

Thanks for the answer, but east Spain is reserved for our next tripp... I´ve read a lot of Pyrenees Rides and really is something I want to do, just not on this one.. and maybe alone,

It would be very cold and nippy. Dress warm ,, even take the heated jacket and gloves.
I have lived 9 years in Europe,, last three at Monaco,, before, when I was in NY,, would rent a summer villa, during the summer in Spain and invite all my friends over,,,I have seen most of that great country. Did the tour in 2011 on my Harley as well.

Many of the roads will have light frost in early March.

Must see places in Spain,, Madrid Prado ,, Bilbao , Guggenheim, Pomplona ,, Barcelona then to Girona for Dali museum.. must see Sevilla, Granada ,,,, highly recommend Cadiz the white village. There are much much more ,, but if you can hit some of those cities,,, Spain will be with your forever.

But 4 days ,, ouch ,, Madrid alone will take more than that. Spain is a big country.

Have fun ,, wish I was going again.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
