Matriculating BMW Motorcycle to Italy from US

Does anyone know how to get an official Technical Schedule and Compliance to EU standards document for a BMW purchased in the US? The official name of the document, in Italian, is Scheda Tecnica Rispondenza Normative UE.

I need copies of these docs so I can nationalize my title and registration to Italy.

My dealer and BMW North America is not offering much in the way of help in this matter. BMW Motorcycles of San Francisco has been great by the way. (Thanks Larry!)

Letter of Compliance

Gino, welcome to the HUBB,

Another member had the same question a few months ago:

Find a more helpful dealer who is linked up to the BMW database, give them the VIN number, and they should be able to look it up in their computer and work out if your bike conforms to EU spec.

Good luck.

Indoors.

Indoors,

Thanks for the tip. My local BMW Dealer obtained a Scheda Tecnica Rispondenza Normative UE from BMW Italy for me. Even though they had never done this before, they were quite happy to try, and would not consider charging me even a single centesimo for doing so.

If only BMW North America were remotely as helpful...

I have fully matriculated the motorcyle, passed all the driving exams and received all necessary endorsements (US driver's licenses are not transferable to Italy) and now, I have a whole new continent to ride.

If anyone has any questions regarding my experiences with this, feel free to ask. Keep in mind that past performance is not a guarantee of future success.

Gino

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
