Does anyone have any suggestions on a good itinery for about 10 days - just after good / must see roads and the like.

Head west to Portugal & then north along the coast in to Spain. Vigo, Santiago de Compostela & La Coruna are worth visiting as are the Picos de Europa for the roads & the views. Plenty of good campsites in Spain. Cheap Pensions in the Picos also.

Cudillero & San Vicente de la Barquera, both on the coast & west of Santander also have good camping. If you like eating fish, Cudillero is the place to go, 20 (fresh from the sea) fish restaurants to choose from.

We stopped off at Zarautz for two nights for a days surfing, good campsite on the hill to the east of the main beach.

Stick to the N roads in France or you'll miss all the rural sights. The N10 from Spain to Bordeaux is flat, straight & boring. Better off heading in to the Pyrenees, Andorra for cheap bike gear & then heading north via Limoges & Angers etc.

Mont St. Michel is also worth a look (I'm there next week)if there's not too many tourists.

Good luck.

Steve

When we came back up from Morocco we took the quickest route via Madrid to Santander. We stayed overnight in Plasencia just north of Valladolid. It looked really interesting, but we didn't have time to look around. Then the road north to Santander N611/A67 had really good scenery in the last 40kms or so (high hills/mountains and twisty roads).

I would do the picos cross the pyrenees from L to R, then head through Les Cevennes (lovely and unspoilt - Robert Louis Stevenson wrote a book about it). I would then head up through the centre - the Massif central and auvergne.

Thats the route I have done several times going from London to Bcn or vice versa.

have a nice trip
