Kaliningrad - Need some advice about it

Hi Folks:

I'm planning on riding from Zurich up to the Baltic countries in late May / June this year, then perhaps continuing on to St. Petersburg and Finland.

I'd appreciate some advice (from people who have been there) about whether it would be worthwhile to pass through the city of Kaliningrad on the way to Lithuania, or whether it would be best to skip that Kaliningrad exclave entirely.

I guess what my question boils down to is this: Is there anything worth seeing in the city of Kaliningrad, or elsewhere in that exclave? Is the city particularly attractive or historical? Is that exclave culturally different from the rest of Russia?

I've been through Russia 4 time already this year (but all on the east coast, Anadyr - Magadan - Khabarovsk - Vladivostok), and I will be continuing on to St. Petersburg on this moto trip... so, if there is nothing to see in Kaliningrad that I won't see on the excursion to St. Petersburg, please let me know.

I have a multiple entry business visa for Russia, so the in-and-out is no problem.

someone else is probably more qualified to respond, but while you're waiting for them to do so: while I wouldn't say that kaliningrad is the same as the rest of russia, it is not different enough to warrant a visit. the problem is the time that you'll waste on the borders going in and out of Kalingrad, and ultimately it is just another city.

I would skip it and take the time and go to somewhere like Pskov (in Russia), which is a nice city and moreover, will take you off the main highways and on to the much more interesting smaller roads.
