Does anyone hoe easy it is to visit overland from Poland for a couple of days (visas, red tape etc )

I think you just need a russian visa for Kalingrad. You could get your visa from St petersburg Youth Hostel. Both Vincent Danna and myself ( on Vincents recommendation) got russian invitations this way.

I can thouroughly recommend Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia so far.

I rode in 1997 on the old Reichsautobahn no. 1 from berlin to Kaliningrad. the border with poland was opened for travellers not russian or polish in april 1997.

you need a visa !

and maybe a few words Russian.
