Interesting Stuff

Hey there,
We will be traveling on motor bikes from the UK into Europe sometime in July via the ferry to France and from there through into Germany and up into Sweden and Norway, Finland down into Russia and heading east to the Urals and possibly beyond then heading south and then west back into the Ukraine and then meandering back to the UK through the more interesting countries.
While planning? this trip I need to know if anyone has any recommendations for interesting places to visit?
We would prefer to look at things such as places of industrial interest like Chernobyl and places where interesting things have happened like Auschwitz.
The route is flexible and if anyone has any suggestions that would be good.

Unesco

Hi,

Rather than start listing personal favourites I find the UNESCO
World Heritage Sites are a good way to sort the real thing
from the rest and make good destinations.

Look at their website and see what you'd be close to.

BTW: I presume you meant "continental Europe" as the UK
is part of Europe.

Have always wanted to visit Colditz Castle (POW camp Oflag IVC, if memory serves!), but haven't made it there yet. It's near Leipzig if that's near your route.

Apparently there is a museum of escape equipment consficated during the war and found hidden since.
