Insurance in Turkey

Hi

Do I buy Turkish car insurance at the border? Anyone know how much it will cost for a 4x4? Can you buy it for varying periods?

Cheers

Daniel

Insurance was compulsory at the border. I went though the Sero border from Iran, it was $50 for the bike, probably covered for a month or so.

Turkey insurance

I've made today Ipsala border from Greece and the Green Card was enough for insurance, but they check it and write in the passport the expiration date.

By the way, I'm at Istanbul, planning to stay here 3 days and after to go to Capadocia, south coast and take the ferry at Chios the 26th July. Anybody nearby?

Mike, This souds a biit steep, was it comprehensive? We went through Bazargan border from Iran to Turkey on 25th June and paid 10TL (5euro) for 3rd party insurance using AXA for our R1200GS motorcycle.
