borders

These borders vary massively

based on time of day and the particular border post.
In general
Romania being part of EU is easy and usually quick

Moldova isn't a major transit area (for anything legal anyway)
so doesn't have a lot of traffic but can be officious / crooked

Ukraine varies a lot with the particular border crossing
and has lots of trucks.

In general I find it's ok to zip past all trucks but to fall in line
for the last half-dozen or so cars...

If it's raining you might play the sympathy card and skip the lot....

From Moldova to Ukraine, you can go through Transdinistria. My advice is DON'T.
Use a more southerly crossing.
Its money all the way... money to get into Moldova - we paid €5 for passport stamp, €5 for bike reg(?!) and 3 Lev at the bank for something, I know not what.
Getting out cost us €20 for the "blind eye" for some reason that they invented.

Transdinistria charged €20 per bike for insurance to get in and gave use a "visa" valid for the day. Its was a small piece of blue paper just put in the passports.
Getting out to the Ukraine Ha! The little piece of blue paper seemed to disappear afer we handed in the passports. So had too pay €50 each for the "turning a blind eye" to the lack of visa... or... go back to Moldova and ride south about another 350kms to avoid Transdinistria.
No doubt there would have been more costs in getting back into Moldova (If we could), so we stumped up the dosh.

See this link for another experience in Transdinistria Transdinistrian nightmare - Chisinau, Moldova Travel Blog

Ukraine was a breeze. You can buy insurance for $30 at the border if your Green Card does not cover UE.

We went from Husi in RO to the border at Albita. E581/A276/M14 to Tiraspol. Exited Transdinistria at Pervomaise which is SE of Tiraspol, then continued on the M14 to Odessa.

Only the exit from Transdinistria was a problem. We did the MO to UE part of the trip in a day - 332kms.
We were pretty late getting to Odessa but found some local bikers that took us to the Hotel Viktoria...
Have GPS track of that if you want it (Garmin).

To bypass Transdinistria to the south you would probably head down to Crimisilia but I don't know where the crossings are there.

Cheers,
John
