550km off-road in the Alps over 24hrs sounds like good fun to me! :mchappy:

Hi,

So few more info as requested:

Hardalpitour has been organised and initiated by over2000riders in 2009. The aim from the first edition has been to run a non competitive endurance rally along the old military and commercial occidental alps tracks from south to north.
Being an endurance competition is aiming to attract endurance sensible pilots rather than TT racers converted to off riding. This is the reason why the advertisement says "bikes over 150kg"! Just not to attract the 2 stroke racers! Having said so, many pilots rode the Hardalpitor with low weight bikes...but with the right attitude: constant speed up to the end!

In the first edition few pilots took part to the event. They liked it so much that the word of mouth ran so quick and fast that many people wanted to do it the following years. Moreover many different Italians and European journalists rode it and gave very good reports on different very big magazines (Motociclismo, Motociclismo Fuori, Endurista, Motomagazine) which of course helped to attract attention to it.

From this year over2000riders would like to open the rally to UK bikers. We would also like to use this event opportunity to introduce British riders to the beauty, pleasure and fun of riding on the alps on tracks and trails on and (well) above 2000 meters above the sea level.

These mountains don't need much introduction as they were the location of the 2006 winter Olympic game. In fact during the summer it is possible to rise some of the slops with the motorbike. Turin is the nearest by city. It is a beautiful city which has been the first capital of Italy in the 19th century and it is definitively worth a visit.

South of Turin, 45 minutes driving, you can visit the Langhe, a region of smooth hills which are world wide famous for their vignard, wine (Barolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo...) and gorgeous food among which the precious Tartufo delle Langhe(truffle).

Turin is served by many directs flights from London and others UK airports. Alternatively it is possible to flight to Milano Malpensa where multiple airlines fly from all over the places. Milano Malpensa is just over one hour driving from Turin.

The all idea for people coming from UK would be in facts, not only to participate to the unique Hardalpitour, but , if desired, also to spend a week or more, riding great trails and alps street (in different configurations and extents according to
different bikes), enjoying superb food and wine and visiting cultural sites.

It goes without saying that the weater in september is still nice and warm without the extreme heat and possible umidity of July and August.

Over2000riders can offer the opportunity of organising 1,2,3 or more days trip exploring this big region off road. Most of these tour do not touch the Tarmac for hundreds of kilometres.

Over2000rider do also offer services for bike hiring, storage and transport from and back the UK(£400 return).

I hope these info will answer most of your questions, however I am always available to answer more questions or speake directly with you over the phone.
I am based in Manchester and happy to meet locally if anyone would be interested in a face to face chat about it.

Ciao

Hi everyone,

This week is the last one to be able to sign on and reserve a place on the rally.

We do have a number of UK/Ireland riders already singed up (manly from advrider and ktmforum). Few teams are missing a single riders...so if any of you is alone this is the right time to sign in, reserve your place and joint an exsiting team looking for the third man!!!

For any further info please contact me.

Really looking forward to meet all of you,

Nic
