Great (northern) British Green Laning
 

My friend is about to buy a DRZ400 and so there is a possible weekend of muddy shenanigans on the cards. Trouble is we live in Scotland where off roading is a virtual impossibility unless you want to break the law or pay to go round some moto-x course type thing.

Can anyone give us some tips (actual routes, or even waypoints would be superb!) on somewhere good to go for some fairly easy green-laning style off-road somewhere in the North of England. We're going to have to squeeze it in to a weekend so the closer to Scotland the better.

Might be worth joining one or other of the local groups for guidance about where to go.

Another alternative is forest tracks/roads.:thumbup1: Plenty of them up here and they are designed for logging trucks, not many work at weekends so this would be a good time:mchappy:
