Any factory pickup programs around?

I'm planning a jaunt to Europe in 2005.
I may ship my current bike over, but would consider buying a Triumph or Moto-Guzzi if there was a factory pickup program for North American spec'd bikes! (Can't seem to find any, except the Lotus Tour sponsored Ducati program)
Anyone know of any Triumph or Guzzi programs?
I'm not really interested in buying a bike in Europe locally, unless some of the importation/compliance stuff has been worked out by somebody else!
Thanks!

In Germany American soldiers can buy US spec vehicles. I suspect so can anybody else. As a non-soldier you probably won't be able to register it with the US forces, but you can get German export plates which allow you to ride out of Germany and around Europe.

Does this help, or am I just confusing things?

A little! I was a soldier in Germany 30 years ago....still kick myself in the arse for not bringing a bike back!
There used to be a company that sold cars/bikes on the bases, but can't remember the name, or find them on the 'net.

I'm not 100% sure they'd sell a bike to a civilian, anyway...but worth checking out! I'm kind of surprised it's so hard finding Bike programs, while you can find a way to buy almost any Euro car at the factory here in the US!!!

I seem to remember having seen German dealers displaying the appropriate signs, but I guess that doesn't help you, either. Try contacting Guzzi or Triumph direct. Or, buy a BMW instead. I'm just not sure whether all this makes economic sense, anyway. You don't say how long you intend to stay.

Just a couple of weeks. No..it doesn't make economic sense!
Just figuring out the possibilities....and have been threatening to buy a second bike, a little better suited for touring, anyway.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
