Found an Insurer for non resident UK/Eu travellers

Hi folks.
I bought an ER6 in UK back in March 2012 to travel around Europe for 3 months. All that time looking for insurer to insure my bike in the UK but impossible since not a UK resident. Well, finally found one while I was on my second day of riding. And I was insured the very next day.

From the Netherlands third party motorcycle insurance for the entire 3 months. (Have full comprehensive insurance with travel insurance so don't need anymore than third party on bike) Was a little pricey. But atleast I'm now covered.

Thought I'd share. I know some have been having problems finding insurance within the UK.

What do you call a little pricey, $100 or $1000 and did you insure for the year, or just 3 months. Thanks.

Good info. This could save some time looking for insurance since, that´s true, it is difficult to be insured in the UK if no resident, as told by some insurers.

An Australian visitor to the U.K.( non resident) who bought a bike for touring Europe, eventually found a broker who gave her full cover including breakdown.( three weeks ago)

The broker is Mr St John Canfield-Payne, of Canfield-Payne Brokers. Google them for details. They seem helpful.

Called these folks this morning and they no longer provide this service.

I think the key here is "third party insurance"; getting fully comprehensive insurance would be much more expensive, if not completely impossible to obtain a quote from a broker.

There is a sticky thread over in trip paperwork about green card (third party) insurance and I don't recall seeing this Dutch insurance broker named in there:-
