Romania

Anyone thinking of riding to/through Romania this year, we have lived here for a couple of years now and can offer good info on biking and other general info on the country, the weather is great here in the summer and there's lots to see.

Hi Nick,
Were planning a trip for this summer, not 100% yet, but am looking at Romainia and Bulgaria.

We are 2 up (wife and I) and prefer the country, however we would hit a city if worthwhile. Plan now is to travel from Italy/Greece and up.

Looks like we would be in your area the first or second week of July. Were limited on time, total 3 months and were trying to see as much as possible.

Any suggestions or tips for your area would be great.

Thanks

Hi Nick,

Wife and I will be in Bulgaria/Romania during the last two weeks in April, first week in May. Where in Romania are you?. We hope to see both countries but realise that 3 weeks ain't that long. We are aiming to at least see Brasov and bits of Transylvania. We are primarily property and business opportunity hunting plus of course having a road trip.

Please drop me a line at db@tranman90.freeserve.co.uk if you have time.

Regards,

David and Juliet

Hi Nick1150gs

That must be a very interesting place to live! Whereabouts are you? And what are you doing there?

I am planning to ride to Romania at the end of next month (on an R100GS-PD). I should be travelling with my friend Jim (R1100RS) - but he has just crashed his bike, so it may not be ready in time. We are planning to meet up in Budapest with Jim's wife Mari, who is from Bucharest, and possibly my wife Emma and some others. We'll then go to Cluj and travel around the west of Romania for a few days. May try to avoid Bucharest though, as Jim's mother-in-law lives there!

Any suggestions? Do you ride your GS off road there?

Rob

Just returned from a fantastic time 8in Romania. The good feelings started once we left Bulgaria and were welcomed into their country by the Romanian border staff. Fantastic scenery, cracking folk and excellent weather. We can,t wait to go back.

If you are in Transylvania check Chris of TMTours out ( tmtours.freeservers.com ), top bloke who acted as our guide and mentor for three days and showed us some fabulous places.

For people looking for new experiences Romania should definitely be on the list.

Dicky,

I got the impression you were not impressed with Bulgaria. We are headed there in a month or so, do you have any comments?

Thanks

tmt,
last year I rode over TransAlps through Urdele pass. This year I am also interesting to spend two-three days in area where there is a lot of gravel roads over the mountains. Maybe you can help me to define proper route? Count that I intend to enter Romania from south Hungary or north Serbia.
Regards,

AnteK, XTZ 660
