Ferries - Italy to Greece

Hi folks,

I'll be taking a ferry from northern Italy to Greece in the coming weeks and would like to know is anyone company better than the other. Venice is my prefered port... ( saving on fuel / tolls ) arriving Igoumenitsa. Should I book in-advance or at the port.

Many thanks Matt

IMHO both both (Anek and Minoan) are pretty much the same. Whichever timetable suits you better is your ferry company. The ferry to Igoumenitsa takes 25 hrs.

Since hols are finished I reckon you don't need to book in advance. If you have an address of a travel agent in Igoumenitsa or Patras it is usually cheaper to buy your ticket there via internet. But this means you'll have to book in advance.

Resurrecting this thread can anyone who has recently utilised the Superfast Ferries service Ancona – Igoumenitsa assist me please? Will the print out from my internet booking get me on board the vessel, or does this require exchanging for a ticket at Ancona prior to checking in? Thanks

Sorry not much help, I travelled with Minoan Ferries, just turned up at one of the agents at the bus stop in Venice, booked for the next day. Had a great crossing, 4 berth cabin to myself ! and stood under the shower for an hour to get clean... Paid around €200 including the bike and 'shared' cabin....

Precisely the question I had in mind...
What's cheaper, to buy online or on site ?
Any more experience on that ?
cheers.
