Greek Insurance

Hey all!

I have a bike stored in greece now, and will be returning to it in just a few days. I know I need to get some insurance, but was wondering if anyone knew how I might go about doing it? Any place I can buy it online??

Also I'll be heading across Turkey - anyone know if I can get the insurance for turkey at the border?
Thanks!

You can get 3rd party minimum legal coverage which includes Greece from Arisa Assurance by e-mailing Jorge Terrao at the company. It costs 22 Euros per month.

This is the thread you need.

Remember, it doesn't cover theft or self-inflicted damage; it just makes you legal.

Insurance is available on the Turkish border. Usually they shout "sigorta" at you and when you look uncomprehending they point you in the direction of the sigorta (insurance) office.

If you don't have time to arrange liability-only thru Arisa, or you need/want comp in addition to liability, try US broker:

Motorcycle Services/ Express (Michael Mandell)
800-245-8726/ 516-682-9220, fax 516-682-8231; info@motorcycleexpress.com, www.motorcycleexpress.com; 6800 Jericho Turnpike, Suite 201W, Syosset NY 11791-4488

Even the minimum-liability only Euro cover is more expensive, ~US$175-$220 per month from US brokers vs. ~US$40 from Arisa or ADAC. MC Express not strictly speaking "online," but cover & premium data is online & you can arrange quickly via tel/ fax if necessary

...general in Greece you can get two types of insurance. Six months and one year. I am not sure for monthly insurance, but I don't think that exist. In my case I got a contract from Commercial Value (Commercial Value - ΑΡΧΙΚΗ email : info@commercialvalue.gr) +30 210.63.89.200. My bike is 1200cc and I am paying about 110euros for year. Just 3rd party and not theft or road assistance. If you make that kind of contract you can get a 'green' card for 10-15euros from the same company (other companies give it for free), and you can visit countries that they are written on it. They are mainly european countries, and Turkey too. So you wont have to buy extra insurance in Turkey.

Awesome Awesome Awesome! God bless this forum and all its contributers!

Going with ARISIS - they were super friendly on the phone and said that it would cost 22 euros/month. Spoke enlgish perfectly. they are sending me an e-mail with all the details, but I imagine it will be the same as is posted at the link at the top of the page.

SUPER!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
