Europe motorcycle rally schedules

I'm an American in Europe for the summer of 2009. I'm looking to attend a number of motorcycle events this summer, of what we in the states call rallies - where bikers meet up on the weekends to ride and hang out, where hopefully there's arranged camping.

So how do I find out about these? I'm guessing most countries and/or bike brands/types have a web portal for motorcycles which have calendar listings. However, and this is the problem, you all have different languages, spellings, words etc. then what I am used to. I can't easily use web search to locate these, just too confusing, and so far not very productive.

I'm looking for any and all links to countries from Portugal through Europe to the Ukraine, up to Norway (east to west, north to south - anywhere in Europe where I don't have to deal with visas, so Russia is probably out). Any links you could provide me to get started would be greatly appreciated. I'll deal with trying to figure out what the pages say after I get to the websites - that's the easy part, I think.

This way, I'll see Europe on the cheap (I hope), and since I presently lack purpose and a direction, this will help add direction to my travels - the lure of cheap beer driving me onward.

Can't think of any specific websites for the UK, but I know the bike mags often list various events, will have a look through tonight.

One option (depending on if it's your thing or not) could be to take in a Moto GP or WSB round, these all have organised camping.

In Norway there are two rallies which focus on offroad. Both focus on driving are pretty simple.

Most of the Rallies you'd be looking at in Europe are a lot smaller than the ones in the USA. In Europe 1000 people is big, normally it's 200-300, but at least you stand a chance of meeting people. The European Rallies tend to have a focal point like a bar or a marquee (where it's compulsory to have a drink, even if it's soda) and you have to pay to get in, you don't just arrive in the town (XXXX Bike Week style) you have to pay and sign in to enter. The list that my club runs can be found at Mayflower MCC Home, click on Rally Dates and go from there. If you want any further details of specific good ones to get to (and there are a lot every weekend) send me an e-mail.

Thanks for the replies - keep 'em coming. This isn't going to be easy. The internet here in Dubrovnik, Hrvatsa (Croatia) is pretty expensive, so I'll have to find some cheaper connections to figure these out.

I've always enjoyed Motorsport events here in Europe - especially the 24hr Endurance racing (Le Mans for the cars and Spa in Belgium for the bikes are tops!). You pay entrance but always good value, i find, with lasting memories. Sure, the Le Mans car race is packed out with middle-class Brits but there's always a decent smattering of bikers enjoying the weekend. Spa is something else, with it being in the Ardennes Forest and on private land it allows loads of drunken tomfoolery, with the Police really relaxed. Fantastic.

If you've come all the way from America to Europe, there are three rallies which you really shouldn't miss. There's one in Germany in a few weeks, one in England in June and one in Spain in September. They will be full of travelling type bikers. For information about them go to http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/ :) :) ;)

OK on a slightly more serious note, try www.ridesandrallies.co.uk - May - June 2009 for rallies and events in UK during the summer months.

Well, I left the US 2-1/2 years ago. I took me a while to find Europe.

I'm not coming here to do rallies, its just that I'm here, and I thought maybe I should do a few while I'm here.

I will be at the TT event, the HU meet in Germany.

Now, the
25.5.-30.5. First French Adventure Riders Meeting
that Airhead mentioned looks interesting (where? how do I find out more?).
I can see it now - smelly American gets to gether with the French. Should be interesting.
