Europe, end of march/start April

I'm thinking about combining a few days of skiing I have booked in Chamonix with a mini tour in France/Germany in the days before. The skiing is from the 5th to the 9th April, So I guess the tour would be the first few days of April.

I've ridden through North Europe in Feb before and that was bloody miserable. What's it like start of April? Enjoyable? Or should I just fly to ski and forget the idea of riding down by circuitous roads?

When reading my post imagine me sitting behind a frothing pint of ale, smiling and offering you a bag of peanuts. This is the sentiment in which my post is made. Please accept it as such!

I reckon it will be fine, but I'm not a weatherman.

+ 1 hour on the clock

Nothing to do with the weather, but I was checking on that week for something else, and I noticed that it is the first week of BST - I guess it is the same across the rest of Europe because we are supposed to be harmonised, on that at least.

Yes, France is always 1 hour ahead of the UK so totally synchronised nowdays.

Hi Matt Cartney,

It will be cold man.
If you like cold weather and feeling frozen a bit, go ahead.

Othervise just take a flight.

As I don't have too much weight and cold resistant body, I prefer to fly...

I was going to ride down to Provence at the begining of March and my French friends have all told me I'm nuts (nothing new there then!), it'll be freezing. One guy said either fly down and hire a bike, put in the back of my van, or go in June....

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, the HUBB or to receive the e-zine. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
