England,Scotland Ireland and beyond

Hey Guys

I have put this thread in a few spots. Not sure best place for it.
I will be travelling to England Scotland and Ireland in mid July. Hoping to pick up an older model Africa Twin or similar bike and do a bit of travelling. I have no set route or plans at this stage just a destination.

would be greatful for any ideas on places to stay things to do etc. or other travellers that may be in the area at the time who would like a travelling partner for a while.

I will be arriving in London on the 19th of July. Maybe a little earlier if i can swing it and head of in some direction from there after about five days or so depending on how long it takes to organise a bike.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

kind regards

From london you could travel west to dorset and wiltshire, two of the most beautiful counties in Britain, from their you could either head for devon and cornwall or head into wales, some of the best motorcycling roads in england. you can then take the ferry from wales to Ireland. Once back in wales I would then head up to the lake district, head for the northern lakes if it's summer, avoid windermere and ambleside 'cos it'll be packed. Your now so close to scotland you might as well crack on up there, but beware of the midges in autumn. the road past loch Lommond and glen coe is a classic, as is the one that takes you up to the ferry for the isle of skye. coming south head down the eastern side of the country. north yorkshire is one of the great undiscovered gems of england.
just my 2 pennies worth of course!!

Thanks Andy

Sounds like some really great areas. definatelly will be wary of summer crowds and try to steer clear of major tourist sites.

thanks again

I am off work until Mid-August, and hoping to do another short tour from the UK (bike and money permitting) - was thinking more of Morocco if you're interested (about 6 days to get there by bike from the UK) cheap and good looking tracks

If not get in touch when you reach the UK anyway - I'm normally open to suggestions
