Cyprus Motorcycle Hire

Hi & Happy New Year to you all. We're having a short holiday in Cyprus in May and were wondering if anyone knows of a decent motorcycle hire company in the Paphos area.

Cheers....

Used Cy-Breeze Rentals in Paphos in March 2001. We hired a couple of DR350'S from them. Rates were reasonable but have probably increased since then.

There are about 4 or 5 rental outfits on the Tomb of the Kings Road to the west of Paphos centre. Most types of bikes can be found inc. V-Max's. I would advise doing as we did & taking your own gear. The helmets that are offered at most places are knackered to be avoided. I would advise checking out the bikes first at all rental outfits. Most cater to tourists who decide on a whim to hire a bike but don't know much about them. A firm in Tenerife trying hiring an 650 Vigor to us last year with a bald rear tyre, chain tensioned way too tight & in need of a good service.

We covered 135 miles in one day on DR's, with about 90 miles of that off road. Can recommend heading up Cedar Valley towards Kykos Monastry. The monastry is worth a look itself.

Hope this helps

Steve

Just realised I have a map of Cyprus & have remembered another good route.

Head west from Paphos on the coast road past Coral Bay (worth a visit itself) until you come to the Turtle Hatchery. There are hills to your right with some excellent off road tracks heading north towards Polis. We found it by accident when coming the other way returning from Polis to Paphos. The area around Polis is slightly less arid & has fewer tourists.

In Paphos itself, I can recommend Fat Mama's restaurant on Tomb of the Kings Road for excellent food & mammoth portions at good prices.

Cyprus routes starting from Paphos

Anyone else know of any good roads / tracks in and around the Western part of Cyprus. Going next week and been a bit shoddy on the route planning!
Cheers
