Current Speed Limits for m/c s in Turkey
can one of our turkish friends tell me what the current speed limits are in their country for m/c s .

My first thought was that they would be the same as other vehicles, surely? How wrong I was! The AA site states that built up areas is 31mph, outside built up areas is 41mph and motorways is 49mph. It would appear they're maybe not that used to large bikes ?

I could (almost) cycle as fast!

I guess will be better to write more details for Turkey-2014 speed limits and fines..

1-Speed limit chart below...

2-Fines
+ % 9 no fine
+10-30 172 tl. almost 130 usd.
+over 30 350 tl. " 160 usd.

3-Generally no radar checks during daytime...
(Mostly between ephesus and cappadocia)

4-Photo below to see how traffic control (as named in Turkey) is done.(photo credit belongs to my friend Aitor from Spain.)

5-must be a road side warning sign, before the radar controlled area starts.

6-If you are stopped, they must give you the printout of the radar shot..But a friendly selamunaleykum is better when stopped..If it doesnt work, may be thanks nomore tea..If all fails, you will need a good story...

7-Cameras everwhere better be careful for traffic lights.More important.

8-For document checking, you need to show Turkish road insurance policy and your driving licence..

I knew there was a difference for big bikes and that there was a slight margin but ....................... a bit like Norway then speed wise i guess .

Motorbikes and cars have the same speed limit in Norway.

But the average speed limit is generally lower than most other countries with 100 km/h as the maximum speed in motorways. And the fines are heavy!!!

If you intend to race through most of Turkey or Norway or any other country in a lot more than 100 km/h I really dont see much point getting and travelling there. Maybe a racetrack would have been a better place...

Democracy is great, and one of the main advantages with a good and well functionating democracy is that democracies makes rules - amongst them speed limits - that most people respect and follows....

A 1400 cc engine can be great fun but so can a 250 cc one too....

Anyhow - with my relatively simple background I find it strange that there is one speed limit for cars and another one for motorbikes in Turkey (and some other countries as well...)

Also several programs for more adrenaline..

Where exactly can someone purchase Turkish Road Insurance?

1-That is a must at the border crossing if your green insurance doesnt cover Turkey.Online paperwork,sticker and print out takes about 1o mınutes if not crowded.
2-Will be checked at the gate, too before the welcome point..
3--Available by insurance offices (SİGORTA)at all border gates but recommend TTOK. Turkish Touring Automobile Club. offices..Link to addresses at all bordergates below.
4- Fee to be paid in TL. this year as I heard is between 25-60 TL. (about 11-25 USD. for 3 months)

Well that rules out most countries ive visited then :confused1: Be it speed limits , tax collection etc etc etc .
