Madrid Contact Needed

Ecuador customs took my moto so I need a Madrid contact to get a mechanic to check out a motorcycle stored there that I might buy. Of course I'll pay the mechanic for his time.
If it is okay, I want to do this quickly, to have the US title changed to my name and get a registration and plate in my name before I get to Madrid in March.
(Different US states act like they are separate countries)

There is a bike shop in Madrid who are friends with Dakar Motos from Argentina. I can't remember their name.

You could perhaps contact Javier from Dakar Motos and ask him.

Appreciation

Of course I appreciate any and all help and suggestions and look forward to replies. I've also written to a closeby moto repair shop for the same thing: a mechanic, paid by me, to validate the bike. Nothing yet.

Humbly, Chris Brown

I'd suggest asking on HU on Facebook. In my experience, specific local knowledge is much more forthcoming there, simply because there are so many more people reading your stuff. Also, can you find any immigrants in Spain (although they'll describe themselves as "expats") groups or locals' bike groups on FB?

You'll have to plow through plenty of dross there, but often a useful nugget can be found.

Maybe also try the Europe group on Advrider.com? I've had more help there than here when specific people are needed, just through the volume of people passing.

PS. Also the TET Facebook group has many helpful people, including from Spain. Huge user traffic there, in my experience.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
