Cheap accomodation Bergen
 

Planning a trip to Norway in a couple of months time, does anyone know of a cheap place in Bergen, not too far from centre ?

This was good a few years ago, and cheap (for Norway), and it´s got a funny name. Recommended.

How close are you looking for? If you're prepaired to drive into the city there is a good campsite that has really nice cabins for reasonable money next to the horse trotting track. Sorry I can't remember the name but the horse track should help you find it, it's north of the city.

Sorry if you have already got this reply. I am still pretty crap on this internet thing. Couple of years ago I dropped into Bergen after a solo trip to the North Cape. The place I had recommended to me was the MERKEN GUESTHOUSE. 175NK a night, sharing a room, though more expensive for a single, I expect. The lift(elevator) was a blast from the past and well worth the money. Parking was across the road. My Ducati was chained up by me, but I think all would have been safe with the the key in the ignition ( DONT blame me if you try this). I can not give directions as the road/one way system keep changing. It's not a big city anyway. Give it a try. You may find somewhere else to reccomend other people to. As a Swedish lady said to me" Keep your face to the sun, then you will not see the shadows." How nice. How true. Have fun. Gill.

I stopped at bergen camping, a motel/caravan place about 18km (not too close??) north of bergen, only £25 a night, cheap and cheerful.
