CCI (Camping Card International)

Has anyone found this card useful. For a fee of uk£39 it promises discounts staying at numerous camping and holiday accommodations throughout Europe (& rest of the world)
Have not personally come across it before.

That seems pretty pricey. I obtained one from the Canadian Automobile Association for $15/year just last week. I've used it before... I think it paid for itself in discounts after only a couple of nights in a few campgrounds. Didn't use it very much. Seems that it includes 3rd party liability insurance (in case I go ripping through someone's campsite with my bike I guess). Seems silly but didn't want to miss out on the discount AND pay a nightly insurance fee on top. Check with your auto club if you're a member. Might be cheaper there.

Hi,

until the 90´s campsite owners used to keep the ID (passport, ID card) from Checkin to Checkout. The CCI card was accepted by the campsite owners instead, which many people such as myself preferred. I don´t like to give my ID card away for keeps. In southern and eastern Europe they still like to keep the ID, I think, so this alone may be a reason to have the card.

In Skandinavia, the CCI was never accepted, they had a different system.

I believe CCI and the Scandinavian organisation agreed on a new card, the Camping Card Europe: http://www.campingeurope.com

Check out the benefits on their website.

Cheers
Chris

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
