Can I leave my motorcycle in Turkey for a month while I return to Europe?

I need to return to Spain for some business in August, and will need to leave my motorcycle in Turkey for a little over a month. If I park it at the airport, preferably Antalya airport, will customs let me out of the country?

Anyone with Turkey experience, please advise.

Thank you.

IMHO it will not be a problem...

It is a bit about which country you are from. If you are European I guess ther will be no problem...

As an American I have left my bike in Munich, Germany and Madrid, Spain while having to leave the country for work related issues. Never a problem. Airport parking is quite expensive though, so you might want to find a cheaper solution. As I ride a BMW, I was able to leave mine at a BMW dealership in Munich for 50€ for the first month and 25€ each additional month. So I would contact local bike repair shops to see if they offer something similar. Or drop it off for a checkup/oil change and see if they will hold onto it a bit longer.

Madrid airport wanted 381€ per 30days. And that was in the long term parking lot. A bit steep if you ask me.

hi,

i've got the same experience. and the answer is, sorry, but, NO!!. i have already posted it somewhere on hubb. but, briefly, the customs officer will stamp your passport says, entrered with a vehicle. and you can not leave the country without this vehicle, UNLESS, you park your bike/car to the customs car park and have the permission (a stamp in your passport) to leave the country and come back within 6 month and get the bike back.

so, you cant simply park your bike to the airport car park and fly away. if they realise that you have not the official paper to leave the country without your bike, you will have big trouble!

how do i know? while i was living in the UK, i rode to Turkiye and have the same problem like yours..

hope this help.

In Izmir I can provide my mechanics' place where they are used to keep my HU friends' bikes for sometime. Send a PM if you are willing to.

Thanks. Do you know if there is a cost to use the customs car park?

hi,

as fas i remember, it was cheap. but cant remember the exact amount. the park place is near the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul (google earth: 40°58'22.02"N 28°50'25.78"E) and also you have to do some paper work which will take at least half a day.

i can help you if i am in istanbul on the same date.

good luck
