Camping through Europe to get to the ferry to Tunis

Im going to spend a fast three days of the boring motorways of Europe getting to Genoa (or another Italian port) in order to reach Tunis by ferry. Im planning on riding the approx 1400 miles in 3 days (really fun on an xt).

Anyway...im looking for some GPS for hassle free cheap campsites without leaving the motorway too much, security, where i can put the tent up and go to sleep after a day beating my ass into submission. Has anyone got a list of places they stayed on a similat bomb through Europe.

While in France, just go to any decent sized village or town, you will find a good quality and cheap campsite.

When in France ANY motorway service station should let you camp there, as long as you find someplace out of the way, they mostly have a recreation area so as long as its after about 9pm and as long as you are up and away by about 7am all is well.

I hated France when I was in a car but on a Motorbike camping I loved it to bits.

First let me say this::::::14 DAYS TO RETIREMENT!! now on with the message. try www.motocamp.com and check out their campsites. They are all over Europe and a few in the states. We used two of them this past summer and have received several replies from some of them we contacted in Germany, France, and the U.K. You can also get fre from the French Tourist Bureau a camping guide that lists every campground with details and directions. Same goes for Uk and Italy. We have those guide books and they are great. Be sure to specify the language you want them in.

It will be difficult for you to know where you will end up each night so I'd just head for the municipal site of whatever town you end up in. They're cheap and some are in great locations. I'd go Le Havre (0800 start in France) south then east to avoid the mountains. Have a great trip.

as you state you will be on the motorways, why not take judgedredds advice. Even I sometimes will use a peage, justifying it with free camping in an 'aire'
I will add this, pick a quiet aire and choose a place at the back, and examine the ground carefullly before pitching your tent. travellers use these areas for dogs :(

It's also the best place to meet German people, I met loads this way as they like to camp out, but I will say that most of then had Harleys... go figure

Assuming your location is correct as London then thats only one days riding if sticking to the fast routes:confused1:. unless you are going on an xt225 or similar.

I did Madrid to Bristol two up on an F650, that was 24hrs exactly door to door with a nap on the boat between Calais and Dover. I dont want to do it again anytime soon though.
