Camping in Germany
 

Hello there.

I'm starting to research camp sites in Europe, mainly to keep me busy during the day, but also to build up a nice repository of places we could stay at. So far not had a problem except Germany for some reason. Holland, Czech Republic and Poland haven't caused me any problems, but so far can't find a single camp site in Germany that looks intesting.

Generally we're looking for some peace and quiet, but anything interesting might bring us to stay.

For example in Holland there is this website that lists nature campsites

Is there anything like this for Germany. I would have thought Germany must have lots of great places to camp.

Anyone got any 'wild' camping to recommend? I realise it might not be legal, but there are such places as this:

Taking a trip through Germany? This brought the folowing to mind.


The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as 'Euro-English'.

In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of 'k'. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replaced with 'f'. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where! more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent 'e' in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as
replasing 'th' with 'z' and 'w' with 'v'.

Camp sites in Germany

I stayed in a lovely campsite in southern germany by the black forest, in a place called Titisee. Worth while - good facilities, cheap, good beer, and a BBQ!

I stayed at the camp site just outside Bremen two years ago and it had very nice facilities, but there are mostly auto campers there. Staff was very helpful and the restaurant next to the lake was good. Enjoying a nice cold Becks there after a day of riding is recommended...

Identified the Problem
 

Aha - I've now identified the problem, and that is thee are too many campsites and I'm having a problem trying to see the wood for the trees!

I'm trying to find quiet, green, or different campsites. I like the idea of a lake, which lots of european campsites seem to have. But other local attractions like caves and er stuff :)

Those websites are givin me a starting place, just gotta apply a filter now.

Yes we will be putting it all up on the website. the wfie has taken the task of being chief campsite reviewer. In fact she has reviewed a couple already. But a that stage we weren't GPS'd up, so the details are a bit basic. We'll make sure that there is something more funky in future.

We're not off for a year yet though ......
