Camp sites near Geneva
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a camp site somewhere near (within an hour at the most) of Geneva Airport. And how busy are the camp sites at the beginning of September? Thanks. |

I don't know about Geneva, but I have camped at Chamonix - about 1.5 hrs from Geneva airport - and a tourist hot spot. It was no problem getting a site in first week in September.

Both "European Camping" by Mike & Terri Church and "Camping Europe" by Carol Mickelsen list "Camping Pointe a la Bise" as a camping site near Geneva. It is 7 km. up the N5 in the east side of the lake. Take the Vèsenaz exit and follow the signs. It is listed as "Expensive". Phone # 022 7521296. I have not been there and know no more than is in these books.

There is an excellent - and inexpensive - youth hostel in downtown Geneva. I think the cost is about CHF 15 or 20 for a bed, linen, duvet (!), and a full breakfast the following morning. You can get to it on the public bus from the airport, it's quite easy to find. Here is the URL for the Swiss youth hostels site: http://www.youthhostel.ch/
