Brittany France.

Hi folks.
Im at a loose end for a few days at the end of September so im heading over to Brittany on the V-Strom to do some exploring.
Im heading for the town of Vannes first and next day ill head for Brest, and then back to Roscoff to catch the ferry home on the 3rd day.
Im bringing the tent to keep costs down as allways and I was just wondering are there any routes or sites that any of you that have been there allready can recomend?
Any recomendations much appreciated.

Personally I'd give Vannes a miss but if you head west from Vannes along the south coast of Brittany you should find the ancient standing stones of Carnac, the remote Quiberon peninsula, the lovely medieval town of Concarneau with it's walled city. Further along is the more modern seaside resort of Benodet. Lovely sandy beaches near Douarnanez, the wild coast line of the Crozon peninsula. East of Roscoff near Tregastel is the Pink Granite Coast with its unusual and fascinating rock formations. You won't get round all this in 3 days though.
Most of the municipal campsites will probably have closed by the end of September but I'm sure you'll find somewhere as those that are open shouldn't be too busy then.

Cheapest camping solution in Brittany is to use the larger service stations. be discrete and pitch at the back.
They all have free showers and toilets outside and most have pay hot showers inside their cafes.

Note ALL road s in Brittany are free ( no peages)

Also check out Le foret de Paimpont if you're intrested in legends. There are a couple of things to see there, like the tomb of Merlin, the fountain of eternal youth, the giant's tomb, the valley of no return, ...
Great stuff!!

Also bring a rainsuit. Been there twice and twice a lot of rain.

I'm from there, and I have to fully agree. Skip Vannes, go to Quiberon. Crozon is simply amazing. From there, go inland a bit: Huelgoat is very nice, and the road to Morlaix is amazing. From Morlaix, take the road to Lannion. From there, you can head to Trébeurden, and go along the cost up to Perros-Guirec. In five days, you can cover that. Otherwise, from Roscoff: Montagnes noires, Pink granit cost, back to Roscoff. Depends if you want to ride on motorways all the time or not...
Almost forgetting: camping is dead easy. Just find a field, the path that leads to it, pitch your tent. Back roads are perfect for that. Watch out for the cops if you pitch the tent around petrol stations.
Enjoy!!!
ps: As regard to the issue about rain: that's plainly misinformation. It only rains twice a year in Britanny. It just does so a bit longer than anywhere else.

Thanks fella's, Quiberon looks lovely on Google street maps, seems to lots of bikes around there which is allways a good sign.
Has anyone any experience of the campsites in Quiberon?
I'd much rather stay in a campsite than wild camp if possible, there's allways someone to chat to on a campsite.
Vannes was actually recomended to me by a French man here in the UK, he said it was very scenic?
As for going to Brest on the second night, thats simply to find some good nightlife on my last night.:funmeterno:
Any other towns in Brittany with a good mix of scenery and nightlife?
Im really looking forward to this, I done 1500 miles around France last summer and it was probably the best time I have ever had with my cothes on.
