Specific Q - Romania - Danube

Hi all, really specific one to help with a trip later this year. I'm heading out towards romania again, and wanted some info re: the road along the danube (the section from Turnu-Severin to the west/north).

Last time I went the road was being relayed, was fantastic at one end, but I good couple of hours of extremely rough stuff that was getting relayed.

I'd love to camp there again, but does anybody know if the road is finished? The friend i'm going with this time would be pretty uncomfortable riding his shiny touring bike over really rough stuff.

Big thanks!

Graham

Danube Panorama road

Hi Graham,

Just ask friend of mine who is living in Russe-Bulgaria,use very often this road with his V-Strom,told me that is partly repaired,so the big holes and the most rough part around Zimnicea are filled.Mind you please that I never went there, but hope this help you.

Regards,

Simon

Thanks Simon, it's such a beautiful area, I would love to do it again. I might just have to tell my friend to come along and act suprised when we hit the gravel!

Seconded. I rode from Turnu-Severin to Timisoara in December.. main roads rather than riverside.. beautiful country.. beautiful villages.. poor country.. poor villages. The roads were hardly beautiful. In fact they were poor.. but fine for my Bonneville so no problems for you.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
