Bike insurance in Bosnia

I'm due to leave in a weeks time, heading from the UK through Germany, Austria, Italy and Croatia and staying in Bosnia for two weeks.
I just spoke to my insurance company (Adrian Flux) who say I'm covered for everywhere except Bosnia. I knew that already, it tells me on my certificate. What I needed to know was what I do about insurance in Bosnia. All they can tell me is they won't offer cover and if I want some I'll have to cancel my policy and find an altenative. Am I supposed to buy some when I enter Bosnia?
Presumably this would only cover me for basic 3rd party risks. I don't plan on using the bike much while I'm staying in Bosnia, the journey there and back will provide enough riding to be going on with. I'm more concerned with the posibility of theft and the consequences. Do I just take a good chain+lock and hope for the best?

Thanks

David

I was told by a different insurance company--which also does not cover Bosnia--that the only way to get Bosnia coverage was to buy it at the border entering Bosnia.
However, at the particular border crossing that I used between Croatia-Bosnia, main highway between Dubrovnik-->Mostar, there was NO border insurance being sold; nor did Bosnia Customs ask for evidence of vehicle coverage. So...it may depend on which border crossing you use.
In any case, even if you find a border agent selling vehicle insurance for Bosnia, it will almost certainly only include 3rd party liability, not theft.
So, yes, take a good lock and hope for the best. Likelihood of theft in Bosnia is no greater--perhaps less--than UK. :rolleyes2:

I'm organising a tour for my club in August that takes in Bosnia. I've looked at previous threads on the HUBB and on the Bosnian Tourist Board web site regarding the insurance issue. My research concludes; you will not find any UK insurer that covers Bosnia, you can buy third party only cover at all boarder crossings except the one you use to get to Dubrovnik, the cover will cost $20ish for a month, there are a couple of phone numbers for Bosnian insurance companies mentioned in posts on the HUBB so you could try to arrange something in advance. What I have proposed for my group is pay the $20 and chain the bikes together.

No reason to be worried about insurance for Bosnia...once you get to the border joust purchase 3th party policy and it is not expansive at all.

Sorry Tourider, but I have to disagree about UK insurers covering Bosnia - however it was three years ago so maybe I'm out of date ..... in which case I apolpogise again!
I'm insured with Carole Nash who don't cover Bosnia as part of the standard cover but did for an additional premium - at the time I think around £20 per week. This was fully comp with breakdown cover ie. an extension to my existing policy.
The only downside was that I had to tell them what dates I would enter/leave the country so I couldn't be as flexible as I would have liked. Fortunately I didn't have to use them :)

Mermaid;
I'm also insured with Carole Nash and they won't touch me for Bosnia, or so they say. I've found with Carole Nash that it depends what sort of mood the operator is in as to what services they provide. For example, last year I had two bikes insured with them on separate policies which both recognised my no claims. I swaped second bikes this year and tried to take out a similar policy but was told it wasn't possible and never had been, make of that what you will. Armed with your information I'll have another go at getting cover from them.
