4 day's But Norway is A Fantastic country and one that you won't want to rush..plus they are very very strict about the speed limit, so don't risk it .

The trip from Bergen to NorthCape and back is 2860 miles so if you travel 400 miles every day it will take 7 nearly 8 days.

I did a trip from the Netherlands to the NorthCape and back and it took me twelve days.
From Kristiansand in Norway, to the NorthCape and back to Goteburg in Sweden took nine days.
You can read all about it in my travel report: http://www.xs4all.nl/~jkrijt/trips/n2g/index.shtml

Hi Forestry,

I took 3 weeks to do it 2 years ago, camping and staying in the Hutte accomodation.

You could do it in 2, but I wanted to take my time.

I did a figure of 8 route by taking the ferry from Bod0 to Storvagen in the Lofoten Islands and riding across to Nordkapp, then I got on the Hurtigruten boat from Honningsvag near Nordkapp to Harstadt (via Hammerfest), then to Narvik and back down. The ferries give you a chance to rest up and saves much duplication of routes back down (as Norway is such a long narrow country). I was quite tired when I got to Nordkapp and it was the windiest place I've ever been to! (Gale force wind in fog!)

The best of the mountains are south of Trondheim IMHO.

I got back with about 4 days to spare idling in the fruit farming area / Hardangerfjord near Bergen, which was a real pleasure.

Cheers, Nordkapper.

Did a similar trip last Summer, except came via Sweden.

We meandered something terrible (I wonder what this fjord looks like from the other side) and it took us about 4 weeks from Bergen to Nordkapp, wild camped except on the Lofotens (where a Rastaman ran the camping) and at Nordkapp (where every campingcar in Europe was parked). I'd advise against camping at Nordkap, its not very pleasant and there are some great spots further back.

Took 6 weeks to get back to Kristiansund for the ferry to Denmark, via Finland and Sweden - yet more meandering.

There is so much to see - history and scenery. Some fantastic roads - spiral tunnels (have to go both ways at least twice), 29km tunnel with blue light caverns in it (odd place for a disco if you ask me), hairpin bends without safety barriers and a small drop to a fjord/valley/river 1000m below.

Alta rock carvings
Stave churches
Viking longhouses and boats
Copper production - mining and bog
Telemark.............etc etc

Swimming North of the Arctic Circle is a testicle numbing experience not be missed if you already have children - I'd advise against it if you want to have children tho. Avoid sex for at least an hour afterwards as it can still snap off!! Ice is warmer than that ****ing bit of sea.
