Barcelona Rideout - Sat 14th February 2010

Ruta66Motorcycles.com

This local store is organising a bit of a bash and ride out in the Barcelona area next Sat. See attached link for details.

I'll be there (9:45 outside the Mapfre tower in the olympic port). Post if you plan to be - so we can keep an eye out.

I cannot even tell you how much I envy you... it just started snowing again yesterday, forecast for the next 14 days is rather bleak. Harsh winter this year :(

Near miss!

Hi Pat,

I've just signed up to the HUBB and as I write you are out on the road - and freezing* yer brass wotsits off I guess:innocent:

I'm based in the Pre-Pyrenees and Tarragona city, more or less half and half, and have a BMW G650 X-Country. Thinking hard about the 'Mountain Madness' (I'll post on that topic)

Meanwhile, I'm here in sunny TGN while my bike is in the mountains, currently 15 below so that's where it's going to stay. But if you fancy a ride out one weekend over the next few weeks why not meet? In the mountains I live at the far end of the C13 Sierra del Montsec run - if you haven't been there ask your mates about it! I'll also be bringing the Beemer down to town at the end of this month for its service, so I'll be 'local' for a while.

Cheers

Simon

* for those of out out there somewhere nice like the Tropics - Spain is undergoing a big freeze at the mo' - snow forcast on the beach in Barcelona and just down the coast here in Tarragona - where half of the population is almost in the nude for the Caranaval:thumbup1:

Hi Simon
I should have noted Sunday 14th of course - not Saturday. Always getting days mixed up - but I was out on the bike earlier anyway - but toasty warm with my thermals on! (and some nice new winter gloves I had for Xmas - thanks sis!). Just had some work done on the bike, and its running really well. Looking forward to tomorrow now.:mchappy:

Great idea to meet up - and I'm up for that - but I'm off on my travels again (work I'm afraid) from Monday, so won't be back in BCN for a couple of weeks. I'll post a new thread when I get back though.

I know the C13 (the bit near Lleida anyway) but not your bit of it, but just had a look on the map and it looks good to me. I was in Oliana / Ponts around a month back, just out for an afternoon run and ended up there. So not too far away.

Hi Pat,

Hope yopu have a good day out today - perfect weather for it if you have good thermals!

I think the C13 around Lleida itself is pretty grim. My bit is between Camarasa and Cellers, I time the jaunt in between the two sets of tunnels at each end (of course one should never do timed trials on the public highway:nono:) But I'm fitting knobbly tyres now that the Metzler Tourances are worn through, so no scratching for me - until the knobblies wear out!"

Oliana and Ponts are OK, but really they're just points on the way to Andorra - great for biking clobber - horrendous for everything else!

As I said, I'¡ve got to bring the Beemer down soon for the service, not too sure when, other commitments like you, but we could meet up then, around the Alt Penedes/Conca de Barbara areas are sort of half way for us both, or another weekend up in the mountains - rather better riding anyway! It may be wise to get in touch more directly and share details as I don't have Internet up there.

Cheers

Simon
