Baltic States?

What is the best (summer) month to ride around Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia)? Anybody know the petrol price in these countries? Any others useful information? Tnx!

July seems to be a good Month. Myself & 4 others are touring the Baltics (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia & then Sweden on Motorbikes in July this year. Look on the Rough Guides website for costs & useful info. Regards Martyn

I'll be there (Heading south from Estonia) in October-ish. According to the rough guide, it'd cost the equivelent of £0.72p to fill up my bike (£11 here)...!

Gas prices in Estonia:

91 octane: around 0,47£ per litre
95 octane: around 0,49£ per litre
98 octane: around 0,52£ per litre

Nearly the same in Lithuania and Latvia (+/- 0,07 or so).

Hope this helps, Margus

The best months are june, july to august. I think the best way is to do some google search about sightseeing and the things that interests you.

I went through there in 2003, fantastic. Definitely recomend Takai castle, Vilnuis and Riga also a visit to the guys at EMMK the motorcycle touring club in Talin. Lots of good museums in Riga and Vilnuis.

cheers

June is hot in the baltic states, can't comment on July and August.

The people are friendly. The Fuel is about half the price of the UK - about £5:50 a tank with my transalp (15 litres). The women are beautiful. Many young people speak english well. Food and living expenses are cheap. Might be worth a trip out to Saarama (sp?) - big island off the coast of Estonia. Watch out for the terrible roads in the east near the Russan and Belarus borders though. Great for a little while, but really tiring after a few hours and watch out for the rutts the trucks leave in them. I came a cropper in Latvia and ditched the bike. Nice local garrage helped me out though and I didn't even have money. Vilnus main honda dealer is useless. Was going to take two weeks to get a front tyre for my bike - so headed to "BolDor" in Warsaw for spares. They had most things in stock and gave a good service.

For info... as I visited them today

Anyone who is in the Baltics and needs Honda (or Kawasaki I think)parts best head for Riga. The main Honda dealer (for the whole Baltics) is there and is quite a large shop and can order Honda parts (order by close of business on Tuesday for delivery Friday - if in stock in Belgium!).
