A weekend in the Lake District

Had a cracking weekend, Friday afternoon took my missus to pick up her first bike (she’s been borrowing mine up until now) an 07 SV650S, she loves it!
Rode home, packed up stuff for the weekend up at the in-laws in the Lake District, and off we went, 250 miles each way, and about another 200 in the middle while we were up there. Not the longest trip by any means, but the furthest for her, and one of the furthest for me too.
On Saturday we rode up the coast road to Barrow In Furness, then across to Hawkshead and Newby Bridge. Then on the Sunday rode to Devils Bridge, where bikers meet every day of the week right through the year, it was mainly sports bikes, i like the Kawasaki Z1R ( i have its baby brother the Z500 at home!!) and the new Fireblade looks brilliant in White and Black.
Here’s some of the photo’s:

Looks like you had a great time, I live 10 miles from Devils Bridge and it really is that busy every weekend and even on a wet January week day there will be a handfull of bikes.
Don't worry that it's only 250 miles - some folks have to ride 12,000 miles to see the English Lake District and that southern coast out to Barrow is fantastic.

cheers Silver G, we were lucky with the weather too, got a bit of rain on the way up and agian on the way home, but while we were there it was mainly dry!
with the inlaws living up there, i'm sure we'll be up there again for a more comprehensive trip, were planning a trip to scotland for next year, stopping in the lakes on the way up and the way down!!
should have my panniers on the shiver by then if aprilia pull their fingers out and make some!!!

Don't forget to turn east from Devils Bridge sometime into the Yorkshire Daves, just as pretty and without the coaches and cars. You'll love Scotland - we were there in February and had it all to ourselves

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
