Thumbs up Norway,Sweden Finland?

Hi fellow travellers
Well ferry booked from Newcastle to Stavanger on Tues 21st August. camping, hostels, hotels!?
any advice from previous travellers of this wonderful land?
Fuel, is it readily avaliable when travelling through mountains?
camping, I know you can camp wild but are there many camp sites?
Hostels, are these easy to find? common?
Routes, any great runs?
I am on BMW 1100RT and mate on Africa Twin
when leaving Finland we will be getting ferry to Estonia, any ideas for crossing (cost or best comany if more than 1)
Hope some one can help
David.

Info about Norway and Sweden

Last year I visited Norway, Finland and Sweden. I made a report of that on my website;
Jan Krijtenburg homepage (Travel pages)

I had no problem getting fuel or find hotels or campsites.

Have a good trip.

Here you have absolutely no problems; there are several companies with several daily crossings and the prices are reasonable (1 person + bike around 45 eur). No pre-booking necessary.

I'm off to sweden on 24th. My 4th trip to Scandinavia, I love it. You'll have no trouble finding camping. If in doubt look on the map for a lake and there will probably be a campsite there. If the weather is bad get a cabin they're only £25-£30. It's as cheap as camping if there's 2 of you. I've only ever gone there in June/July before so I'm not too sure how cold it will get at night in September so I've planned for chilly nights. There is no problem with fuel I've taken a gallon can before and not needed it. From Stavanger I usually travel south and pick up the 45 at Algard. It's a great road and it meets up with the 9 to go north. Check out the "Scandinavia" thread for other routes and places to try.

I'm on the Bergen ferry on 8th Sept so may see you on the return.

Have a good one.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
