125cc Touring Around Europe

I'm currently just beginning my trans-european tour on an 18 year old (same age as me) 125cc honda sports-commuter. At the moment I'm heading south and beginning with the Iberian peninsula. Although nothing is set in stone, I have some rough ideas and am aiming to see and learn as much as possible over atleast 6 months, both on and off the bike. However, I am really just following the road - and the sun - and seeing where it takes me. I received my A2 licence on tuesday afternoon and was on the ferry later that day.

Anyway, if you've got a minute please check out my blog. Its still coming together, I have literally had barely a minute to spare so far, but give me a couple of days and I'll have it up to date (I'm now in Catalonia!) ...

The 125 Diaries

(would of just had 'motorcycle' but apparently some guy called ernesto had already used it?!!)

While the blog is at the moment mainly about the logistics of travelling on a bike (and so small), as the months pan out it will probably be less about the riding aspect and more about general travel and the local areas I visit.

Any suggestions, (or places worth visiting?) would be well received, and if anyone lives or is planning on touring nearby, please get in contact!

Ciao!

I like your style goldhaze and it's good to see another 125cc hitting the road.
+ all credit for getting on the road straight after passing your testbier

Since you say that you have 6 months for this trip I would suggest that you take it a bit more leisurely and look around as much as possible as you travel.
(I can see you have done some pic shoots so that is probably understood?)

Even in Spain the weather can get cold enough in the winter months. Stay "low" i.e hug the low ground rather than over the mountains until the weather improves.

Caio,

ps There's a boat load of stuff in the HUBB about places to visit etc so I thoroughly recommend that you take a read through the Forums when you have a moment - no rush, you have 6 months!!

Hi Goldhaze,

I see you're bike has an X prefix, making it a year 2000 bike, so I hope you're old than the bike!

Looks like you're in for an experience that most 18 year olds could only dream of. Enjoy every minute.

Regards

Reggie

Interesting, in Brazil they sold the CBZ 125F as Honda Strada between 1994 and 2002, but with a 200cc engine with 19 hp. I learned to ride in one of those bikes.

aha yes, I am just - the bike is actually a 1994 model, but was only registered in 2000!

thanks for the info, I'v found it impossible to find out anything about the bike since having it - the extra 5hp wouldn't go amiss! how did you find it to ride?

cheers for the support!
and as for the sheepskin seat, if only....!

Hello and welcome to the world of 125 touring! We're a small club(literally) but I wish you all the best.:welcome:bier

Spain is brilliant, and even better - it's only a couple of hours from Morocco!

If you are looking for a slow and steady bimble around Spain, I can give you names and places of some great communes and farms to stay at for a few weeks.

If you make it as far down as Andaluz, you'll be able to find sheepskins everywhere for very few Euros, I've still got one from there on my CG that's done about 30000 miles. A very good investment on a little bike.

I'll be riding or walking back into Europe in a couple of weeks, I hope our paths cross.

Good luck y buen camino

The 200cc version is great bike, probably the best city bike I ever rode. I donĀ“t know about highway riding, but in the city the bike works like a charm. :thumbup1:

Goldhaze: I looked at your 125diaries blog. It looks like a good trip, but then you stopped posting in Spain. Are you still there?

Hi birdy,

I am going cycle touring around Europe this summer and will most definitely be hitting Spain.

Would you be able to forward me the names of some of the farms and communes that you know of as I would be interested in checking them out.

Would have contacted you via pm but my post count isn't high enough yet.

Regards,

Matt

Goldhaze has posted another month or so fairly recently, all about Catalunya, and this brings his blog up to the end of Feb from his earlier post dated 20 Jan 12.
