storage ideas for landrover
Hi there. Has anyone got some pictures of how they stowed their stuff for a landrover discovery. I dont want to go too mad drilling, welding or fitting complete drawer systems etc. Just some ideas which you may have used, and it saw you through your trip. Am off to Morroco this coming winter, but only camping in the south for 7/10 days.

For an Algeria trip I did the following:
Removed the backseats and built a kind of wooden crate to hold 3 fuel and 3 water jerries. after that I had a row of toolboxes, and then 4 banana boxes. The spare wheel was behind the rear wheel arch inside the car. No roofrack) All was strapped down under a plastic cover. As fixation points I used those hooks that are used on climbing walls belaying, and bolted them down using the points of the seat belts. This system was simple, light and efficient. Last year I went trough a bit more trouble with boxes that slide in and out a frame etc. Here's a picture (I think): http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/chipol...c3.jpg&.src=ph |
I have collected some links on the subject, maybe they help (most are for drawers that interest me, though):

Also on my website www.overlandcruiser.info there's an example of a shelving / drawer unit that I used in my LR Discovery. A description can be read here: http://tinyurl.com/5xn2p

I use some sturdy plastic boxes, tied down with straps secured to lashing rings i bolted to the floor and wheel arches.

Tom sheappard's book "Vehicle Dependent Expeditions" has a few pics of Discovery load systems. |
For those of you looking at building your own storage here in the UK and are looking for drawer slides I've got a few links that might be useful, here they are:
http://shop.comdir.co.uk/Products.as...rWebTemplate=C http://www.widney.co.uk/slides_320.htm http://www.gsfslides.com/ I'm currently looking to put together a system for my HJ60 which is heavily based on those from the www.overland.co.za site. Good luck Simon |
Thanks, Simon. Accuride 9301 seems even more heavy duty.
