Yamaha XTZ660.

As the owner of a 1996 Yamaha XTZ660 Tenere, I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about setting them up for touring at most a week or so in length. Living here in Central Queensland Australia, I am only a short days ride from the "Outback". Cheers any tips greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I am also owner of XTZ 660, same year, 4BW Europe model A/CH. I have done several modifications so far as follows:
- better frons springs, stock springs are too soft
- different jets and open Arrow PD exhaust pipe
- H&B crashbars, very usefull modification according my expiriences :-)
- rebored cylinder on first oversize in stronger tolerances ( no oil consumption at all )
- always use enduro tyres T63, much better offroad handling than dual-purpose stock tyres as , for example, Siracs, Trailwings or Trailmax.

Altogether I am quite satisfied with bike on unpaved roads, way much better then in stock design.

Regards,

AnteK, XTZ 660

Hi,

I’m the proud owner of the XTZ660 of ’91. I changed the regulator/rectifier to a newer version like was suggested by FredXTZ. But there appeared a difficulty in connecting the new RR to the bike. The older one had four wires and slots for wires but the newer one has five slots. Can anyone explain how to connect newer RR to the older XTZ?

Thanks,

Andres

See if you can get a set of Jesse panniers from the U.S. Not sure if they have a fit kit for the XTZ. See www.jesseluggage.com
I also got a 3 litre freezable water bladder with insulation pack from Campco in William Street.
