Yamaha XT660r pannier advice needed

I'm looking to get some kind of frame to fix "Ortlieb" pannier bags or something similar too, does anyone have any advice on what to buy and how to set these up?

Also, has anyone had problems with plastic or synthetic materials being melted by the exhaust?

Are there any companies in the UK that specialise or should I get a rack made in a work shop?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

You could try www.touratech.co.uk
They have several items in their catalogue for the XT660R - pannier frames, rear carrier, bash plate, tool bags etc, etc.

Hi there,

I drove around with alu boxen on my XTZ 660: never again! nowadays whenever I rent a bike in a country I just take my backpack put it in an orlieb waterproof bag an tie it to my bike. No problems at all! The alu frma in my bag keeps it straight and away off the exhaust. It's a easy a simple solution. And you can hike around if you want to. No need to buy expensive panniers and welling heavy luggage carriers.

try it!

good luck!
