xtra gas in msr water bag?

ive heard that its possible to put gas in a MSR Dromedary water bag. anyone know for sure? at 10 liters their biggest one would be an easy way to carry xtra gas. i was thinking you could put one in each of some front tank panniers when ness. and roll 'em up out of the way when not. that way keep weight up front. guess you'd wanta make sure and not use 'em for water bags tho.

It's something I'd thought about when seeing pictures of the first Gulf war a while back with big flat bed trucks with massive fuel bladders on them....
I would suggest to buy one and put petrol in it and leave it for a week and see if the "Heavy-Duty: Abrasion-resistant Cordura, laminated with food-grade polyurethane, can handle everything from freezing to boiling" would handle the desolving properties of petrol...... I don't fancy the chances, petrol stored in a plastic milk bottle will eat through the plastic bottle..... It may work for a week once-off??? but then you'd bin a USD$40 water bag:eek3:

Would be brillant if it worked though.....

I would tend to agree with Steve above - I have an MSR water bag (4 litre) and got some oil on it when it was in my top-box - the oil stained the material and I could certainly taste it when I came to drink the water... I've put the bag through the washing machine now and it seems to be ok, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for petrol in it...

Hi,

Don't do it you will contaminate your fuel, they make SPECIAL bladders for fuel that have an interior coating and fuel resistant seals. They cost loads but are worth it in the long run.
