White Power Shocks

My motorcycle is a 1983 BMW R80ST.This model is a monolever simular to the G/S but the rear suspension is 1 inch shorter. Since the old beast eats up stock suspensionI don't want to go OEM and would put on an Ohlins but they don't make one in the right length. White Power does. It is called the Super Adjuster and adjusts for compression and rebound. That is not as important to me as keeping seals in it Does anyone have experience with White Power rear suspension? Does it last? Thank you. Bill Shockley, Tomahawk WI USA

I'm not an expert, but White Power and Ohlins are equally recommended by many.

Anyone to add anything based on personal experiences?

Hi guys

Was over in the Touratech factory a few months ago and was asking the same questions.

Their preference was Ohlins as they said that they have had to return a number of WP shocks.

Saying that have got one on my R100 and have travelled 2 up with luggage around Morrocco with no problems.

I am going to go for Ohlins on my Dakar when I chage the standard suspension.

If you have oodles of money try these http://www.technoflex.nl/
Apparently they are the "ducks guts/bees knees" on a BMW.
Cheers,

I changed the stock Showa shocks on my GS1150 for WP's. Got them shipped by M-Tec from D to UK. Ride is more responsive and rebound much better. Have taken them on track days and they worked a treat, bike much more stable. What annoys me slightly is that my ride height rose by about 2-3 cm even though I can adjust ride height. However, they are expensive (mind you so are all!)and to be honest I read a shock comparison on GS1150's in MOTORRAD where the Ohlins got significantly better marks.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
