Look for pannier frames where each side is separate i.e. not one complete item. This makes it easier to fit to the bike IMHO. Look for a bracing bar that runs behind the rear wheel, bracing theb two sides, adds rigidity and protects the bike if the bike's dropped. Also look for as many mounting points as many, additional mounts to tghe main frame are also good as they brace the subframe of the bike, useful if the bike has an aluminium subframe and you're heavily loaded.
