What tyres I need for SA, + Insurance???
I'm going to start a tour of South America, and have got myself the best bike funds can afford, a Yamaha XT600, a grand bike, perfect for what I need, but I'm wondering what tyres I need for touring SA?
I will be on the road for at least 8-9 months, but I don't know what I'll come across in terms of roads. I'm guessing plenty of dirt roads with some cities and that thrown in. What type of tyre suits best as an all-rounder for dirt roads and tarmac, does anyone know? Also, anyone know anything about insurance for South America?? Can I get one insurance policy that will see me through all the countries? This is my first multi-country road trip by motorbike so all and any tips and tricks would be much appreciated! Cheers! |

Tyres.
Hi.
I've used Heidenau K60 tyres which have proven to be a very good all round tyre with a long life (7k miles +) I know a few folks who have been very impressed with this tyre too. Another choice is the MEFO explorer and "super explorer" although I have no personal experience whith this one. Good luck. Dave. |
