What saddlebags to get

While most of you are off riding all around the world, I have slightly more humble hopes of just making it across most of my country (Canada).

I recently purchased a 1994 Honda Shadow VLX 600 and because the turn signals are so far forward on the tail it's hard to find bags that would hold anything substantial and still fit.

The newer Shadows fixed this by mounting the turn signals farther back and I've seen (home-done) modifications for older bikes, but I'd rather not make a modification like that (this bike is very close to mint condition... it's only been ridden for about 2 months).

For the trip from west to east I can afford to strap a bag on the passenger seat, but on the way east to west I may have a passenger for part of it.

Ideas? Suggestions? Tell me to post it in a different forum?

Thanks,
Jason

Right forum, BUT I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and move the turnsignals. If you're careful, you should be able to make the mod reversible, so you can go back to stock anytime. Remounting t-sigs is no big deal. Just don't cut orignal mounts!

Once you've done that, thre are hundreds of bag options. A good pair of softbags will probably fill the bill nicely. Lots of choices.

you can move them and still put them back to the original position. make brackets that are as long as you need, bolt them into the bike mountings pointing backwards and then put the indicators on the brackets.
depending on how far you need to move the signals, you may need to plumb in a bit of extra wiring.
