Touratech UK vs Europe prices, save yourselfs some money

HI all,
this is mainly for UK guys (or girls), and i dont mean to offend touratech.

if your about to, or at some point going to order from Touratech UK, DONT. This is why.

I have been looking into getting some items for my Dakar and my Buell Ulysses from Touratech.
I am planning a little trip to Spain next month so I thought I might get some kit, so I looked into the price out there as we pay 20% tax and I presumed they would cheaper on tax.
This is what I found

For my Buell I wanted some hard crash components that came to £348.06.

UK price

-£304.61

USA price
-$398.40 =£248.78

euro price
-EUR 279.70 = £241.72

so that's £55.83 cheaper in USA and £62.89 cheaper in EU.

Germany's tax is 19% and France is 19.5% tax, so tax is not really a factor.

So save yourselves some money and take a good ride out to Europe and as your there save yourselves some money and buy kit out there.

Cheers
Will

Price difference

better order your stuff as the touratech agency in Madrid doesn't keep much stock. They do however get two deliveries from the factory a week. As long as it's in stock at the factory you have a four day delay. Juan at Touratech in Madrid speaks English and is very helpful. I have noted the price difference too.

My plan exactly. I want to order about £1000 worth of kit for my F800GS. If I buy from Belgium on my way through Europe I'll save at least £200... UK pricing takes the piss!

I've found this as well. Touratech shops not in the UK won't post to you, you have to go to them; an excellent excuse for a riding detour if ever I heard one! There must be a legitimate reason why the UK is so expensive? :nono:

Here’s a few…

The rental/purchase cost of premises is expensive
Business rates are cripplingly expensive
Wages are high
Employment costs are high
Postal costs are high

I have a bit of a problem because as a business owner myself, I can see it from both sides. I want to buy products at the best prices but I also don’t begrudge someone making a reasonable living if they provide a good service.

all true BYT, unfortunately the pound has weakened in the past few weeks otherwise it'd be even cheaper to shop in euros overseas.

:offtopic: You think you've got it rough living in the UK, try looking at the prices of gear in Australia or even Turkey for that matter. You'd be hard pressed to find anything that is less than 200% more expensive than mainland europe in Australia and that goes for the cost of bikes as well!!!

Back on topic... if I need anything (From Touratech or any other company for that matter), it's cheaper to order online or ride over the border from Switzerland (where I'm now based) to Germany, buy then claim tax rebate at the border and come back over.

Personally I don't understand how the consumer puts up with getting ripped-off, it's daylight robbery. :censored:

My advice to all is to vote with your feet.beer
